Crowne Plaza Rohini is definitely my one of the favorite places as this place the hardworking team of chef keeps experimenting with the different food styles across the globe and they are doing a commendable job. So as you all know previously we were invited to experience the dakshin food festival in which they showcased some amazing delicacies from the southern part of India and this time we experienced something different , a cuisine which has a rich heritage , a cuisine which has a long history and the cooking methods of this cuisine is also called the food of the mughals. Yes! we are talking about the Awadhi cuisine , in short a blend of aromatic and delicious delicacies influenced by the flavours representing a symbol of royalty and opulence.
Before proceeding with some more details about this amazing food festival , let us brief you about this fantastic hotel which is located in rohini , near adventure island in new delhi. Crowne Plaza New Delhi Rohini is a five-star property in which staying even for a day or two would be a special experience of your life. The magnificent hotel welcomes both business and leisure travelers from across the world through its contemporary amenities. Situated on excellent location, all the tourist attractions of the capital city is quite reachable from the hotel.
The name of this food festival which we attended was Oudh – E – Jahan which took place in Spice Art , an award winning contemporary Indian restaurant serves North Western Frontier cuisine featuring a wide range of kebabs and curries, Awadhi and Delhi delicacies with a private dining area for guests and it has 116 covers. This festival was on till 5th November 2017 and started on 26th October 2017. Chef Hardev has done an amazing job and we would say he has done complete justice to the dishes he created. Be it Gawalat Ke Kebab which was basically shallow fried tender mutton kebabs or Quorma Lazat – E – Taam which was mutton curry cooked in brown gravy. Every dish on the menu was simply delicious and cooked to perfection. Both the menus ( vegetarian and non vegetarian ) were very extensive in terms of variety.
The highlights of the vegetarian menu was Dalcha Kebab which was pan fried pink lentil kebab with curry leaves , Khumb Kaju Ki Galawat which was tender pan fried mushroom kebab with cashewnut , Dal – E – Oudh which was toor dal cooked with yoghurt onion and tempered with garlic. And top was that Lauki Ka Raita which was absolutely refreshing. Where as the highlights of the non vegetarian menu was Sugandhi Mahi Tikka in which sole fish marinated in mustard yoghurt paste with saffron , Murgh Hazrat Mahal in which chicken fillet marinated with yoghurt ginger paste and cooked in tandoor and how can we forget that Lucknow – E – Khass Deg Biryani which was so heavenly in taste and we loved the tenderness of the mutton which was cooked so beautifully and has amazing flavors.
And by the time we were thinking that we cannot eat anymore , desserts were served on our table. Chukandar Ki Phirnee in which beetroot were cooked with condensed milk , rice and nuts and second one was Anjeer ( Fig ) Ka Halwa. The dried figs cooked with sugar and mawa and the texture of the halwa was totally extraordinary. So , as always , we had an amazing team here at Spice Art and gained knowledge about this cuisine from Chef Hardev.
