India Runway Week is a trade show held specially for young fashion designers in New Delhi with summer edition and winter festive edition every year. This event is the Asia’s youngest fashion trade in which new talents and indian designers showcase their collections on the global fashion stage which gives them excellent business opportunities from both bulk and retail buyers. On the whole , the event provides an enriching experience for everyone. The first ever India Runway Week held in August 2013 which was a 2 day event with 14 designers was a big success and created by Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD) and established one of its own kind fashion trade event which completely at par with any fashion week around the globe. And then season after season the people started loving India Runway Week and this April ( 28th to 30th ) we had experienced it’s 8th Season – Summer Edition at Thyagraj Stadium.
We went on the 3rd and the final day and attended two shows and they were totally amazing and we were amazed to see the collections and such creativity of the designers. Coming onto the shows we had attended , in the first show designers Ankur J, Ridhansh By Sonia Gaba & Priyamvada showcased their respective collections. Ankur J launched his Amun-Ra (hidden light) collection which emphasizes on Egyptian colors and prints with contemporary mix. One thing which I loved in the collection is the 5D Egyptian beetles state of the art prints and Egyptian gods while doing fine justice to the Indian art. With the collection, he raised the message of “Help Egypt Help an Heritage”. Now coming onto the RIDHANSH by Sonia Gaba who had presented her collection named “Nazakat”. The name itself explains “beauty is in the way you present it”. Whatever you wear , becomes beautiful in the way you handle it. Her collection has a mixture of whites, yellows and goldens, pairing it with some elegant jewellery. And not to forget , bollywood actress Mugdha Godse walked the ramp for Priyamvada. Focusing on Indian Ethnic Wear, this label curate pieces inspired from her own fashion sense and her role models from among the beaming fashion industry. Flowy cuts, easy material & detailed embroidery ; their line is filled with all of these. Effortless elegance is their motto and they provide it religiously to all their customers.
Now talking about the second show which we had attended , talented designers Preenish , S – LAZ DESIGNS , Swarnima Shreya & BMT Couture showcased their collections. Preenish is a passion of two ladies , from different generations , brought together to form a rare combination of Indian fashion. By keeping their mothers in mind , they created the perfect traditional wear – because that is the most important part of Indian culture. . S-LAZ by Supriya Shukla brings funky yet elegant tone embodies the collection with simple yet beautiful shapes. We absolute loved each and every collection and overall it was a great show and looking forward to the next season and latest trends by which the designers will revolutionize the fashion world.
