Baisakhi or Vaisakhi is a religious festival in sikhism as this marks the sikh new year. It is usually celebrated on April 13 or 14 every year and commemorates the formation of Khalsa panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. It is additionally a spring harvest festival for the Sikhs. Vaisakhi is also an ancient festival of Hindus, marking the Solar New Year and also celebrating the spring harvest. It marks the sacredness of rivers in Hindu culture, it is regionally known by many names, but celebrated in broadly similar ways. And any festival is incomplete without good and hearty meal and punjabi food is my soul food. Normally , the food of punjab has the richness of ghee & butter along with the home grounded spices which can enhance the taste of any dish. This cuisine has a rich tradition of many distinct and local ways of cooking like tandoori cooking which is now popular in the whole world. So you guys must be thinking that why I am discussing about baisakhi and punjabi food. The reason is , Hotel Pride Plaza in Aerocity , New Delhi had organised the Baisakhi Food Festival in which they have showcased the dishes with a punjabi twist.

Now coming onto the Baisakhi Food Festival , in which they had an extensive menu for the customers. The whole restaurant was designed as a dhaba and it also had a special theka counter from where one can grab a quarter of his or her favorite whiskey. And to make it more special , the traditional punjabi folk songs were being played in the backdrop. The lavish buffet include popular starters like Amritsari Machhi , Machhi Ke Sole , Murgh Tikka Angara , Punjabi Paneer Tikka , Haryali Aloo Tikka , Bhutte ke Kebab and main course dishes like Dhabewali Dal , Murgh Shahi Patiala , Kadhai Gosht , Balti Gosht , Saag Motiya Lahsuni , and Amritsar Wadi among several others. Pamper your sweet tooth with famous Punjabi desserts like Kesari Phirni , Atta Pinni , Gud ka Halwa , Choliya ka Halwa and not to forget the king of all – Besan Ka Halwa which was so rich and heavy but I couldn’t control myself and had a bit after the scrumptious dinner. And every dish was served in a typical dhaba style and food was really amazing in taste. The texture of each and every dish was just perfect and the dishes had just the right amount of seasonings and moderate spices so that everyone can enjoy the flavors. And Kadhai Gosht deserves a special mention here not just because it was superly delicious but also for the appreciation for the chef for creating such a dish because we believed that only kadhai chicken exists but this dish had completely changed out thoughts.
